Edward A. Adams - President & CEO
Ed
Adams is a seasoned software executive with successful leadership
experience in various-sized organizations that serve the IT security and
quality assurance industries.
As CEO, Mr. Adams applies his information security and business skills,
as well as his pervasive industry experience in the Application Quality
space, to direct software security experts in helping organizations
understand the risks in their software systems and developing programs
to mitigate those risks. His organization has delivered high-quality
risk solutions to the most recognizable companies in the world including
Microsoft, IBM, Fedex, ING, Sony, Nationwide and HP.
Mr. Adams is the founder and business owner of the Application Security
Industry Consortium, Inc.,
an association of industry technologists and leaders establishing and
defining cross-industry application security guidance and metrics. He is
on the board of the National Association of Information Security
Groups (NAISG).
No stranger to the podium, Mr. Adams has presented to thousands at
numerous seminars, software industry conferences, and private companies.
He has contributed written and oral commentary for business and
technology media outlets such as New England Cable News, CSO Magazine,
SC Magazine, CIO Update, Investors Business Daily,
Optimize and CFO Magazine. Mr. Adams is in the process of
writing a book titled “Information Security Management: Survival Guide”,
which will be published by Wiley & Sons and is due out in November
2009. He maintains a
blog with CSO Magazine, is a
columnist for CIO Update and can be followed on
Twitter.
Mr. Adams earned his MBA degree with
honors from Boston College and has B.A. degrees in Mechanical
Engineering and English Literature from the University of
Massachusetts.
Peter Jenney - Vice President of Products
Mr.
Jenney brings more than 20 years of high-tech experience to Security
Innovation where he leads all product management and strategic vision
for the firms cutting edge security testing and guidance products. He works closely
with Security Innovation's senior management, engineering and
business development teams, as well as the company’s business
partners to identify new opportunities that will further
diversify the Company’s product portfolio and
penetrate the security market.
Prior to joining Security Innovation as a full-time employee,
Mr. Jenney worked with the Company as a consultant on product
planning and development for Holodeck and other internal service
tools. Previously, Mr. Jenney served as director of product
management & strategy at such companies as Rational Software,
Dataware, Ipswitch and Legato, where he successfully rolled out
world-class products and managed technology relationships with
industry leaders such as Cisco, IBM and Microsoft. Mr. Jenney
received his B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts.
Jason Taylor - Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Taylor leads the strategic direction
for all technology initiatives and manages world-class development teams
for the company's product lines. He has spent his career focused on application development and testing with a primary focus on application security. His unrivaled understanding of application behavior provided the impetus for Security Innovation’s industry pioneering fault injection tool, Holodeck Enterprise Edition, and critical enhancements to the
company’s internal testing and development tools. Mr. Taylor was the visionary and designer of the Company’s “Creating Secure Code”
methodology and course which has been taught to several of the world's
largest technology organizations.
Prior to joining Security Innovation, Mr. Taylor served as test architect, security lead and development manager at Microsoft for various releases of Internet Explorer and Windows. He was the first member of the Internet Explorer security test team, and as the security team lead, he grew it from a solitary operation to the leading application security test team at Microsoft. Later, he built the Test Model Toolkit which became the standard model-based testing tool at Microsoft, winning a Best Practice Award along the way.
Mr. Taylor is an external reviewer, contributor and primary author for Microsoft patterns & practices security guidance. He has published several whitepapers including “Web Services Risk Assessment and Recommendations” and “Security Threats: Risks, Protection & Limitations" for CIO Update. He is co-author of "Team Development with Visual Studio Team Foundation Server" and “Improving Web Services Security” with J.D. Meier of Microsoft. Mr. Taylor received his C.S.
degree from Montana State University.
William Whyte, D. Phil - Chief Scientist
Dr. Whyte is responsible for the strategy and research behind the
company's activities in vehicular communications security and
cryptographic research. Before joining Security Innovation, he was CTO
for NTRU Cryptosystems, a leading provider of embedded security
solutions and previously served as Senior Cryptographer with Baltimore
Technologies in Dublin, Ireland. He is chair of the IEEE 1363 Working
Group for new standards in public key cryptography and has served as
technical editor of two published IEEE standards, IEEE Std 1363.1-2008
and IEEE Std 1609.2-2006, as well as the ASC X9 standard X9.98.
Dr. Whyte led the implementation of 1609.2 for the USDoT-sponsored VII
Proof of Concept project and is responsible for development of the NTRU
Aerolink™ product. Dr. Whyte holds a D. Phil from Oxford University on
Statistical Mechanics of Neural Networks and a B.A. from Trinity
College, Dublin, Ireland. He has presented on cryptography and security
at numerous industry and government events on four continents.
Sheila Walker - VP of Business Development
Ms. Walker is a results driven, business solutions sales executive with
over 15 years experience leading innovative market leader software
companies in their business development growth. As part of the company’s
leadership team, she develops business strategy and creates
mutually-beneficial relationships in targeted strategic accounts. Within
the Global 1000 market, she has built a reputation for her ability to
build and drive a sales organization that successfully helps clients
acquire a competitive advantage by translating technology into business
value as well as developing alliances to deliver world class customer
service.
Prior to Security Innovation, Ms. Walker was Vice President of Business
Development at NTRU Cryptosystems, a leading provider of embedded
security solutions. She has also served as Vice President of Sales
Solution Strategy at KANA Software, Inc (KANA), an industry leading CRM
software provider into the financial services, telecommunications and
technology markets. Ms. Walker began her career at KPMG LLC, a premier
provider of Audit, Risk Advisory, and Tax services. She holds dual
citizenship with the United States and Ireland and is a with a B.S.
degree in Accounting & Finance from the State University of New York at
Buffalo.
Stephanie Aznoian - VP of Finance
Ms. Aznoian joined Security Innovation in 2005, taking the financial reins of a growing company with an international presence and complex accounting and finance needs. She has managed all facets of company finances, from real estate to tax planning, from contract negotiation and administration to Human Resources and audit performance.
Prior to joining Security Innovation, Ms. Aznoian held positions at
Wellesley Companies, Inc., LION Bioscience Research, Inc., and The
Timberland Company. Aside from her professional accomplishments, she is very active in the her community, teaching Accounting in an adult education program, serving on the boards of a number of charitable organizations and acting as Treasurer for professional organizations. Ms. Aznoian earned her BS in Accounting from Bentley College, and her Masters
Degree in Taxation with distinguished honors from Northeastern University.
Mark Etzel, Ph.D. - Director of Engineering
Dr.
Etzel has full responsibility for product development and testing of the
company's cryptographic products. Before joining Security Innovation, he
served as Director of Engineering for NTRU, a leading provider of
embedded security solutions, and previously was a Distinguished Member
of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories for 21 years. He has extensive
experience in software and firmware development for secure
communications equipment and the implementation of security protocols
and optimized cryptographic algorithms for constrained, embedded
devices.
Dr. Etzel has led various consulting projects including the development
of cryptographic libraries for Microchip and NXP, and has performed
security analysis for Microsoft and DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range
Communications). He headed the development of the NTRU GenuID product,
and manages the development team for the NTRU platform security products
(PSS and Core TSS), ensuring interoperability with multiple vendors'
TPMs (Trusted Computing Platform Module). He has several patents for
mobile phone security and has published papers in cryptography and
digital signal processing. Dr. Etzel holds a B.S. with Honors from
Carnegie-Mellon University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of
Illinois in Electrical Engineering.
Maureen Robinson - Director of Marketing
Ms. Robinson joined Security Innovation in 2004 and has since been
responsible for all aspects of marketing for the company including
public relations, demand generation, corporate and product positioning,
internet marketing, and sales enablement.
Prior to joining Security
Innovation, Ms. Robinson was Director of Internet Marketing for Ipswitch, Inc. where she was responsible for all aspects of e-marketing
including the creation and management of the company’s e-commerce site,
which contributed over 30% of total revenues, and an FTP Community site
that serviced more than 300,000 visitors per year.
Ms. Robinson earned her BS in Business Management from Northeastern
University.

Jeffrey Hoffstein -
Ph.D., Professor of Mathematics, Brown University
Jeff is a co-inventor of the NTRU public key cryptographic system, and a
Professor of Mathematics at Brown University. He has published papers on
the subjects of number theory and cryptography, and is the recipient of
numerous National Science Foundation grants. Jeff has held academic
positions at the University of Rochester, IAS and Göttingen University
in Germany. He holds a B.A. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from
MIT.
Jeffrey T. Emig -
Principal, Brook Venture Partners
Jeff joined Brook in August, 2005 after receiving his MBA from the Tuck
School of Business at Dartmouth College where he graduated with Honors
as an Edward Tuck Scholar with Distinction. Before Tuck, Jeff was one of
the founders of Tenor Networks, a firm focused on developing high-end
optical networking equipment. At Tenor, Jeff built the finance and
operations groups and assisted in raising over $120M of Venture Capital
through three rounds of financing. Prior to Tenor, Jeff held finance and
operations roles in 3Com Corp.’s Switching Division. Jeff holds a
Bachelors Degree with Honors from the University of Massachusetts where
he graduated as Valedictorian of the School of Finance and Operations
Management.
Frederic
H. Morris - Partner, Brook Venture
Partners
Prior to Brook Venture, Frederic held a variety of strategic positions
with WT Grant, U.S. Trust Company of New York , State Street Bank &
Trust Company Growth. In 1996, he teamed up Andy Clapp to form the
predecessor venture investing group to Brook Venture Fund. The duo
formally launched the Brook Venture Fund in mid-1998, investing in 17
companies and generating a top quartile return. Brook Fund II has
subsequently been launched as an SBIC with $100 M in capital, where
Frederic remains active in deal flow generation, investing and
overseeing investments throughout this period.
Frederic drives much of the analytical activities at Brook Venture ,
haven overseen the legal side of the business for many years and serving
in a lead role in evaluating potential portfolio companies from a
financial perspective. He earned a B.S in economics from Yale University
and an MBA in Finance from Harvard University.
Gordon Burns -
Director, the Compass Diversified Holdings
Gordon has served as a Director of the Compass Diversified Holdings
since May 2008. Mr. Burns has been a private investor since 1998.
Previously he was responsible for investment banking at UBS Securities
and before that was a Managing Director at Salomon Brothers Inc. Mr.
Burns is a graduate of Yale University and the Harvard Business School.
