SECURITY INNOVATION CEO PRESENTS "APPLICATION SECURITY MISTAKES BUSINESSES MAKE" AT SECUREWORLD BOSTON

Edward Adams Distinguishes Application Security Myth from Reality;
Offers Strategies for Tailoring Security to Business Needs

Wilmington, MA - March 2, 2007 -  Security Innovation, the authority on application security and leading independent provider of risk assessment, risk mitigation and training services, today announced that its President and CEO Edward Adams will deliver a session on the “Biggest (Application) Security Mistakes Organizations Make” at SecureWorld Boston on March 15, 2007. In this session, Adams will break down common misconceptions that companies make about application security and explain methods by which to make better-informed technology and business decisions.

In the wake of several recent high-visibility business security breaches, there is a tendency for companies to look at their own security strategy in a very reactive way. This approach leads to security decisions being made quickly, without research into whether the proposed solution is in fact effective or even necessary. Because it is easy for security decision-makers to get caught up in such myths as “all security problems are caused by outside hackers” or “security solutions are too costly for my company to consider,” they may miss simple, logical approaches for improving their business’s security at all levels. Adams will explain that appropriate security decisions can only be made while also keeping business needs in mind.

“Information security mistakes are costly, damaging and all too prevalent in today’s business world,” said Adams. “Companies are becoming increasingly aware of the business repercussions of poor security strategies, but they need knowledge on how to best secure their applications in order to mitigate risk and bring value to their organization. The biggest security investments are not always the best ones. Instead, any security plan should be precisely tailored to the needs of the business.” (nice quote)
