APPOINTS MICHAEL GAVIN
AS SECURITY STRATEGIST
Application Security Veteran to Guide Company’s
Security Risk Mitigation, Process Improvement Strategy
Wilmington, MA - January 9, 2007 - Security
Innovation, the authority on application security and leading

training services, today announced the appointment of Michael Gavin
as security strategist. In this capacity, Mr. Gavin will be an
integral part of the management team at Security Innovation, and
will work directly with the company’s customers to develop
customized risk defense and mitigation solutions including design
improvements, process optimization, and education.
As a former senior analyst with Forrester Research, and prior to
that a security architect for @Stake and Raptor Systems, Mr. Gavin
is well-respected in the security industry and brings to Security
Innovation a balance of technical and business expertise. In his
role at Forrester, Mr. Gavin focused on information security,
researching and writing reports on topics including application
security, vulnerability management, digital forensics, incident
response and secure software development and deployment. Through his
experience working with industry leaders and end-users, Mr. Gavin
offers a unique perspective on the security business through his
years of product design and development.

Prior to joining Forrester and @Stake, Mr. Gavin was a security
engineer with Black
Dragon Software, where he analyzed network protocols and services
for flaws related to various aspects of security. He has been a
consultant focusing on system and application architecture security
assessments, secure builds and hardening of operating systems and
server products, and application security. Mr. Gavin has 15 years of
product design and development experience on projects ranging from
centralized management of distributed systems to Web access control
products. He is also a Certified Information Systems
Security Professional. Mr. Gavin holds a Sc.M. in computer science
from Brown University and an A.B. in mathematics from Boston
College.
